What is The Great Jones Street Salon?

The Great Jones Street Salon was co-founded by Hashman Studios (the home of Claire Hashman Art and Hashman Bites) and

the Paula Barr Foundation to create a space for artists, creatives and others working in the arts to connect and share ideas.

Where is it?

The Salon is hosted in Great Jones Street at Hashman Studios in the same space where Charlie Mingus had his music studio in 1966, and famously shot a gun inside (no you can't see the bullet hole). It was also the birthplace of a number of Sesame Street Characters including Big Bird, Snuffleupagus, Oscar the Grouch  and the Cookie Monster as it was the workshop of puppet builder Kermit Love from the late 1960s to 1988.
